Who Holds the World Record for Most Webinar Attendees?

Who holds the record for the most attendees at a live massage webinar?

It’s not me, I’m sad to say.

It’s Til Luchau! He had over 800 attendees listening to his last live broadcast for a reason: He’s entertaining, thought provoking and provides super practical advice for massage professionals.

He is doing a free pre-conference broadcast at World Massage Conference tomorrow evening and I want to invite you to join me.

It’s a business presentation on the topic of “Money and Healing: A Clash of Values”.

We know that people benefit from our work. We know what we offer as massage professionals has real value.

So why aren’t we all wealthy?

Join me online tomorrow night (Tuesday, November 5th) and we’ll find out together. Register free and get all the details here:

See you there,

P.S. This is a free event, so be sure to share with your friends.

Free Webinar: 7 Hidden Ways You Sabotage Your Business Success

I’m hosting a webinar on Tuesday, July 31 at 7:00 PM (Eastern) and I’d love for you to join me as my personal guest: “7 Hidden Ways You Sabotage Your Business Success”

Are you passionate about what you do but not producing the results or getting the satisfaction from your business that you want? It’s fascinating how we often get in our own way without even recognizing it. I know that many times in my own career I’ve felt like I was going one step forward and two steps back! You don’t have repeat my mistakes if you can make the important distinctions that Tina and I are going to discuss.

These distinctions are mentioned from time to time in my courses, but I’ve never focused specifically on these important elements. So I’ve invited business development maven Tina Dietz for a laser focused, 30 minute, jewel-packed, eyebrow raising call you don’t want to miss on the “Seven Hidden Ways You Sabotage Your Business Success”. Register now to reserve your seat.

This particular webinar line has limited capacity, only 100 attendees, so it will fill up for sure. Register now and arrive five minutes early to get on the line.

See you there,

Eric Brown, Director

PS I first heard Tina Dietz speak as a presenter at the World Massage Conference and was impressed with her information and delivery, which is part of the reason I’ve invited her to do this presentation for you. I’ve only ever had a handful of guests at BodyworkBiz over the past 12 years, so this is kind of a unique event. If you want more info about Tina, visit her site at http://thisistinadietz.com/

Do me a favor and share this with your Friends. Thanks in advance!

Facebook Webinar Available for a Short Time

Last month, the largest massage association in the USA, the ABMP broke a record when 2,450 massage therpaists signed up for a webinar they hosted. That’s the most registrants ever for one of their webinars… and they’ve done a lot!

You can watch the recorded replay here:

That webinar, Using Facebook to Grow Your Massage Practice, was taught by yours truly.

I was amazed and humbled that so many people registered for my webinar – especially given the fact that it was broadcast the same time as American Idol! (Maybe I’ll sing on my next webinar and see if that does anything for attendance. Or then again, maybe not.)

I want to send a big “Thank you!” to you and all my other subscribers for your continued support.

I’m biased, but I thought it was a fantastic webinar. It was great for Facebook newbies, but I guarantee even the most seasoned Facebook junkies learned something new about using Facebook that evening.

Thanks to ABMP for making a copy of the replay available to me to post. I’ll have it available for two weeks before I archive it in the e-Marketing for Massage Professionals 101 e-course participant area. ABMP members can watch the replay anytime by logging into their member area and navigating to the webinar area of the site.

Enjoy the show,

Eric Brown, Grand Massage Poobah

PS The host’s voice is a little garbled at the beginning, but the sound from my mic is perfectly fine. Also, if you click the little square beside the volume control button you’ll get a full screen view and will be able to see the Facebook screenshots a little better.

Please feel free to share this webinar with your Facebook Friends.

Erik Dalton didn’t believe me…

I was chatting with Erik Dalton a couple days ago. He really liked my latest BodyworkBiz newsletter: “Can you spot the massage therapist in this picture?” But in a recent more recent email he said he didn’t believe I actually did the climb in the picture. He thought it was some kind of “an advertising stunt”.

I’m not dising Erik. I think he’s a fantastic educator. However, I know that people are naturally skeptical. I’m sure other Marketing Tips subscribers besides Erik Dalton thought the same. So to put that myth to rest, here’s a little video I took. It’s not pretty (excuse the snot running down my face) and it was never meant to be seen by the public, but I thought I’d end the skepticism. Other people may be posers, but I’d like to think I’m the real deal, whether it comes to climbing, marketing or otherwise. Watch the video and see for yourself:

That last email was about taking advantage of opportunities that present themselves. And Facebook is one of those opportunities.

Can you spot the massage therapist in this picture?

I just came back from the ABMP Schools Issues Forum in Denver, Colorado and decided to stay a couple extra days in Boulder to do some climbing.

I went climbing yesterday and here’s the hill I climbed. Can you see me in the picture? (You can click on the picture to make it bigger.)

(If you can’t see me, the answer is at the bottom of this note.)

The reason why I’m sending you this picture is because I see climbing as a metaphor for your business life.

I’m a novice climber. I have some basic skills, but in the big picture, I’m a novice. This is only the third time I’ve climbed outside ever in my life.

Am I brave? Absolutely not! I’m scared out of my wits. I made sure I went to the bathroom before I started this climb (just in case). I’m terrified of heights and can clearly visualize myself falling to the rocks below.

But here’s the thing:

Doing something like this asked more of me than I ever thought possible. And I did it. I felt the fear and did it anyway. I went way beyond what I thought was doable. I stretched my boundaries of comfort in a BIG way. And after having stretched, the idea of who I am and what I am capable of has been forever stretched and expanded.

The same applies for you in running your practice. Every day you face big challenges in your business. Sometimes the challenges seem overwhelming. When that happens, you have two choices:

1. You can stand at the bottom of the hill and say, “I could never do that.”

2. You can face those challenges head on and go beyond your comfort level. Feel the fear and move forward regardless, and forever expand the limits of what you thought you could achieve.

As I made that ascent up the mountain there were times when I thought I could not possibly continue, but after taking a deep breath and looking around I could see opportunities: Little pockets in the rock where I could stick in a couple of fingers to advance my position or some shallow ledges that I could use for support.

You need to look for those opportunities in your business. They might not be obvious, but they are there for you to take advantage of. You just need to take a deep breath, relax and see the world with a spirit of openness and exploration. Those opportunities will appear. And when they present themselves, use them as a way to move forward in your practice.

An opportunity presents itself this Wednesday…

Currently, one of the big opportunities for moving your practice forward is the web and in particular social media sites like Facebook.

I’m presenting a webinar on using Facebook to Build Your Massage Practice this Wednesday, April 20, 2011, 8:00 PM – 9:00 PM, Eastern Standard Time (New York time). It’s sponsored by the Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals (ABMP) and is completely free.

You have to register and save your spot. Do it right now as the webinar line is limited to 1,000 attendees.

Register for free here:

I will take you through pretty much everything you need to know about managing your Facebook account and using Facebook to promote your practice. It will be a whirlwind tour, but I’ll send a link for the recorded replay to BodyworkBiz newsletter subscribers about a week after the event so you can review it and have it for reference.

I’ll see you at the webinar,

Eric Brown, Director

PS Please “Like” this post or share it with a friend. And in case, you couldn’t spot me in the picture above, here I am…

Here’s the first comment to come in after the broadcast…

Thank you so much for the Webinar on making videos. This was fantastic! I have been looking for another way to market my business. It seems that to stay ahead of the pack you must always look for something new. Tthis is it – making a video. Thank you for sharing. I am very excited about putting a video together. I guess I’ve been reluctant because I don’t look like a celebrity and wondered how the general public reacts to every day people. I guess we’ll try it and find out. Thank you again – much appreciated. That was one hour well spent.

The Power of Video for Marketing Your Business

Thanks for attending the webinar. We looked at lots of great information for getting your business found online and getting new customers.

You saw how I was able to get videos at the top of Google search results for not just my businesses, but for any massage practice. I uploaded a video for a therapist two weeks ago and within 24 hours she got a page one result. It’s not that hard and I outline exactly how you can do it.

Here is the video that I produced for her. It took me about an hour using one of the web services mentioned below:

Here you can see the video has a number 1 position in search results out of 639,000 competing pages and the video was uploaded less than two weeks before this screen shot was taken:

Free website creation tool used above. No catches or strings. Completely free and your website is hosted for free. Super easy to use:

Flip Video is the camera that I normally use. It’s super easy: An on/off button and zoom button and that’s it. It plugs directly into your computer and the software is in the camera. And it’s very affordable:

Edit in Windows MovieMaker, a free program that comes installed with Windows. It is simple to use and has a very short learning curve. (Mac users have iMovie.) Example of video edited with MovieMaker to get a sense of possibilities (World Massage Conference):

Online video creation services:

Animoto for Business. Nice looking videos. Some stock images, video and music. $249 per year or $99 for 3 months:http://animoto.com/business

SpotMixer. 30 to 90 second commercials. Some stock images and video. $79 to download your completed video:http://www.spotmixer.com

This video was made with SpotMixer (I did a small edit in MovieMaker):

Jing Pro: Does screen capture and combined webcam/screencapture. Can download MPEG files. $14.95 per year: http://www.jingproject.com/pro/

Have someone do it for you. Prices usually range from $500 to $5,000. Best and lowest cost service I’ve seen on the web is iFlashVideo. Professional 60 second videos for only $49 per month. Write the text for your commercial and they will put it together with images, video, music and voiceover. They open up for membership on an occasional basis and you have to lock in your subscription.

Once you have your video produced you must upload to as many video sharing sites as possible. You can automate the process to a certain extent with distribution services.

Free distribution service: Tube Mogul distributes to a limited number of video sharing sites

Paid service: Traffic Geyser is the crème de la crème of video distribution services. I subscribe to this service. Will upload to about 20 sites and will upload audio to podcasting sites. At $99 it’s a little pricey, but if you are going to do video marketing in a bigger way it is certainly a worthwhile investment.

I will be developing some web marketing services and courses in the future and will eventually do an expanded version of this Video Marketing strategy. Be sure to sign up for the Marketing Tips newsletter to get updates on these:
